This year’s Show Garden is designed and created to attract a variety of wildlife to your garden.
The main focal point of the garden is the Wildlife Pond, boosting biodiversity and providing vital habitats for amphibians and aquatic insects which are increasingly being lost around our countryside. Ponds are also an important water source for drinking for insects, birds and mammals and can help improve water quality by filtering water run off and preventing pollution.
Providing a calming and relaxing atmosphere, with many physical and mental health benefits proven from being near water, this garden provides a vital sanctuary to help us too.
The meadow style planting around the garden is designed to attract different pollinators throughout the growing season with the selection of plants chosen to offer a variety of colours, shapes and flowering times.
The Show Garden will be able to be viewed by walking through the planting and around the pond on a decked boardwalk. A decked seating area with hipped roofed Pergola offers an ideal spot to view the garden whilst immersed in the planting and provides the perfect location for afternoon tea.
A second seating area positioned over the water gives the opportunity to be closer to the wildlife and might even tempt you to want to dip your toes in the water. The perfect spot for a glass of bubbly!
The water run off from the rear of the pond cascades down into a small stream providing a damp area for a variety of other wildlife and a perfect spot for moisture loving plants.
